It is with great excitement we welcome Andrew Morse as the new Executive Chef at Hazeltine. Andrew, joined our team in December 2021, is already looking at ways to further improve the outstanding dining experiences we offer. Lauren Thompson from NBC Sports Group spoke with Andrew to learn more about his culinary history and his plans for Hazeltine’s future.
Chef’s Culinary Journey
Andrew’s passion for cooking started young, when he spent time with his grandma and father in their kitchen as a child in northern Wisconsin. Those early lessons with his family are what inspired him to go to culinary school. Andrew graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Minneapolis.
He’s perfected his craft over the past 20 years working at resorts and clubs around the country. Right before coming to Hazeltine, Andrew was Senior Director of Restaurants and Chef De Cuisine at the Polo Club of Boca Raton located in Palm Beach, Florida.
Andrew is a big believer that it takes an entire team to deliver an exceptional dining experience and he is appreciative of all the opportunities and people he has met along the way.
“I've been very fortunate to work with some amazing chefs and outstanding people throughout my career,” says Andrew. He finds that the unsung heroes often are the most influential of all in a restaurant – from dishwashers to line cooks to sous chefs to the front of house staff. “I've been very fortunate to work with a lot of great people, and I think they've all had an influence on my career.”
Hazeltine’s Future Looks Delicious
Hazeltine’s reputation as a world class golf venue is well known. With gorgeous views, accommodating event spaces, and a stellar team, (both in the clubhouse and on the course) Hazeltine National excels in many ways. Now with Andrew on board, Hazeltine looks forward to upping its cuisine game even more. “I look forward to bringing new things here, things that members haven't seen. We want them to leave here saying ”wow”.”
Food has an incredible way of bringing people together. Perhaps it’s dinner for two, a family outing, or enjoying happy hour with coworkers, Andrew will provide Hazeltine with dishes to please members and guests and keep them coming back for more. “We have a great opportunity here to touch people's lives through the food we produce,” says Andrew. Make sure you plan for a meal as part of your next day of golf at Hazeltine.
Welcome Executive Chef Andrew!
