CHASKA, Minnesota (August 26, 2025) ー The PGA of America and Hazeltine National Golf Club announced that Dan Mulheran has been named General Chair of the 2029 Ryder Cup.
Mulheran will lead the Ryder Cup Executive Committee, working closely with the PGA of America to oversee all volunteer and operational efforts in preparation for the 47th Ryder Cup. Additionally, he will guide 10 Division and 60 Committee Chairs and over 4,000 volunteers, while also assisting in the event’s sales and community relations initiatives.
“Dan will be an instrumental force in orchestrating the Ryder Cup's landmark return to Hazeltine in 2029,” said David Charles, PGA of America Senior Director of Championships. “Reflecting on the triumph of the 2016 Ryder Cup, we are thrilled to welcome back golf’s premier team competition in just a few short years. With the combined strength of Dan and the Executive Committee, our ambition is to offer an unparalleled experience to the players, guests, and spectators worldwide, ensuring a celebration of the sport that goes beyond expectations.”
Mulheran is President of Abbey Street, where he leads a team of professionals in multi-generational wealth management and institutional consulting. His leadership has been pivotal in shaping the firm's culture and client-focused approach. Under Mulheran’s direction, the team has earned a reputation for delivering insightful advice and exceptional service to families and businesses alike.
Mulheran, wife Katy and their four sons have been dedicated members of Hazeltine for over 15 years, sharing a deep passion for the game and playing an active, engaged role in the community and the Hazeltine family. He has held numerous leadership roles within the Club, including serving on the Board of Governors, most recently as Club President, and has contributed significantly to the Championship volunteer programs.
"It's an incredible honor to be part of what is widely regarded as the greatest event in golf," said Mulheran. "I'm proud to help carry forward Hazeltine's mission of hosting championship golf and showcasing Minnesota's deep passion for the game on a global stage. This is an incredible opportunity for our community to demonstrate once again our celebrated and internationally recognized ability to deliver world-class events with our partners at the PGA of America."
In addition to Mulheran, the PGA of America and Hazeltine announced seven additional members of the 2029 Ryder Cup Executive Committee. Greta Siedow, Marty Hancharenko, Matt Hanson, Ben Clymer, Dave Susla, Bob Fafinski and Ruth Kimmelshue will serve in leadership roles encompassing all onsite operations and preparations.
“Dan Mulheran’s leadership and vision as our past president, along with his passion for Hazeltine’s championship mission, make him the ideal choice to serve as the General Chair for the 2029 Ryder Cup,” said Dan Johnson, Club President at Hazeltine. “The Executive Committee he has assembled brings significant championship golf experience, and with Dan and this exceptional team leading the way, Hazeltine is poised to deliver a Ryder Cup that will shine on the world stage and be a celebrated event for Hazeltine and Minnesota.”
Hazeltine is the only club in the country selected to host the Ryder Cup for a second time after hosting the biennial team competition for the first time in 2016. The Club’s extensive history in staging Major Championships includes the 2002 and 2009 PGA Championships and the 2019 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. Hazeltine will host the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship for a second time June 25-28, 2026.
Founded in 1962, Robert Trent Jones Sr. designed a long and demanding layout to test the best players in golf; over time, Rees Jones, the son of Robert Trent Jones, succeeded his father, modifying many holes to adapt to the needs of major championship play. In 2023, Hazeltine partnered with Love Golf Design for the purpose of developing a comprehensive master plan. The design team is led by World Golf Hall of Famer and 2016 Ryder Cup Captain Davis Love III.
