Golf for All: Hazeltine National and The Loop Community Experience

The 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship will be played in Chaska, August 12-18, bringing the USGA’s most prestigious amateur championship back to Hazeltine National for the second time.

Hazeltine National has inspired unforgettable moments through the decades – including two U.S. Opens, two PGA Championships, two U.S. Women’s Open Championships, the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, the U.S. Senior Open, and the Ryder Cup. Hazeltine will host its 10th USGA Championship, and first U.S. Amateur since 2006.

Eighteen years ago, Scotland’s Richie Ramsay took the title at Hazeltine, capturing the same crown that launched the storied careers of Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jack Nicklaus, Bobby Jones, and Arnold Palmer.

The 2024 edition of the U.S. Amateur promises new faces, not only among the competitors battling Hazeltine’s challenging contours; but in a newly-formed partnership dedicated to growing the game by making it more accessible for all who wish to participate.

Golf for All

Hazeltine National and the United States Golf Association are proud to partner in creating The Loop Community Experience, held at The Loop at Chaska, an initiative devoted to uniting Minnesota communities by growing the game and making it more accessible to anyone who wants to play.

The Loop Community Experience champions organizations that honor diversity and encourage those with disabilities, as well as veterans, juniors, women, and beginners of all ages to enjoy the game of golf.

The Loop at Chaska

The Loop at Chaska is not your ordinary nine-hole course. It is at the epicenter of this inclusive golf experience, located just a 5-iron away from Hazeltine National.

Groundbreaking in its conception, The Loop at Chaska was designed by architect Benjamin Warren (Artisan Golf Design). It is managed by the Chaska Town Course, a co-host of the 2024 U.S. Amateur Championship, and a consensus choice as one of the best public golf courses in the Twin Cities.

The par 28 course was conceived and crafted by the City of Chaska and Barrier Free Golf, a non-profit working with golf courses and municipalities dedicated to making the game accessible and playable for everyone.

The Loop was built with four important goals: accessibility, environmental sustainability, financial sustainability, and fun. It aims to demonstrate how golf course design can open the fairways to new participants, especially golfers with physical and sensory impairments.

Breaking-Barrier Partnerships

In addition to Barrier Free Golf, The Loop Community Experience has united many organizations, each sharing a common vision of forging pathways to greater access to the game:

Minnesota Youth on Course, helping young people in all 50 states enrich their lives through the game of golf.

PGA Reach Minnesota, mobilizing PGA professionals to create greater access to golf by emphasizing inclusion and positively impacting the lives of youth, military, and diverse populations.

First Tee Minnesota, creating active learning experiences for kids by seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, empowering kids to build character and prepare for a lifetime of new challenges.

Minnesota Golf Association, making the game more sustainable by supporting programs and initiatives that enhance the golf experience for youth, beginners, women, and disabled golfers.

Proud to Give Back

As a proud partner with The Loop Community Experience, and a dedicated leader in its commitment to growing the game of golf in Minnesota and around the country, Hazeltine National looks to the upcoming U.S. Amateur Championship as a way to give back.

One of the USGA’s most prestigious events of the year will be a break-even endeavor for Hazeltine — donating all tournament profits to The Loop Community Experience. It’s all part of Hazeltine’s commitment to grow the game and help open pathways for anyone who wants to tee it up.
